Martha H. Keates

Professional Experience

Martha joined Marts & Lundy as a senior consultant in 2007 after 13 years at Scripps College in Claremont, CA. Martha served as vice president for college advancement from 2001-2007 and oversaw all aspects of fundraising, alumnae relations and public relations activities for the college. During her tenure as vice president the College’s most successful campaign was completed a year ahead of schedule and 19% over goal. Martha was assistant vice president for development from 1999-2001 while also serving as director of planned giving. From 1994-1999, Martha showed her versatility as she held various director level positions in advancement. Martha is a skilled fundraiser with a proven track record. Her work at Scripps College helped the school earn numerous awards, including the Circle of Excellence and Overall Improvement awards presented by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

Prior to her years at Scripps, Martha was a senior consultant for Donald A. Campbell and Company, Inc., from 1989-1994. In that role, she provided fundraising and marketing consulting services to a wide range of nonprofit clients. Martha was with The Claremont Graduate School from 1984-1989 and began her development career in 1983 at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Martha earned a B.A. from Saint Mary’s College and served as admission counselor and assistant director of admissions from 1979-1983. Martha is member of several professional associations and has served on a variety of boards.
