Martha H. Keates joins Marts & Lundy

Oct. 8, 2007
At Marts & Lundy, we believe and we practice philanthropy as an art, science, business and spiritual undertaking. For 75 years, our people have dedicated themselves to philanthropy’s power to transform and enhance not only the institution members but more importantly the world.

Martha H. Keates embraces the same principles.

Martha joins Marts & Lundy after 13 years at Scripps College and a total of 23 years of fund raising experience with various organizations. As vice president for institutional advancement at Scripps, Martha led her team to successful completion of the Campaign for the Scripps Woman, which raised $101 million (exceeding goal by 19 percent).

During her first two years as vice president, Martha's staff noted increases in cash receipts of 22 percent and 26 percent and won a CASE Circle of Excellence award for overall improvement in performance.

Scripps currently has the highest alumnae participation rate among all women’s colleges in the nation. Martha is a gifted fundraiser and leader. She will be a vital part of the Marts & Lundy team.

"There is a simple equation to ensure success in the non-profit world: vision coupled with resources," Keates said. "I have rarely encountered a non-profit lacking vision for its work and those it serves. Finding and securing the resources needed is the key in the lock. The satisfaction of helping make this happen drew me to the philanthropic world."
